This past Saturday we loaded up the car with the girls and a thermos of hot cocoa and went on a Christmas Light Scavenger Hunt that I found on Pinterest. What fun!!
At first the girls thought this was going to be boring just driving around town. But after finding the first one they were gung ho. We found all but Mr & Mrs Claus and the nativity scene with a flood light. We found tons of nativity scenes but none with the light. We thought for sure that one would be easy. The girls couldn't believe that we actually found the Grinch and a Snoopy!!
Here is the link for you to print out and have a fun night with your kids too!
Also, here is my hot cocoa recipe. I like the one on the Hershey cocoa container. I like to add something "special" to the adults version like cayenne pepper or cinnamon.
Hershey's Hot Cocoa
1/2 cup sugar
dash salt
1/4 cup cocoa
1/3 cup water
4 cups milk
3/4 t vanilla extract
Stir together sugar, cocoa and salt in medium saucepan; stir in water. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a boil. Boil and stir 2 minutes. Add milk; stirring constantly, heat to serving temperature. Do Not Boil.
Remove from heat; add vanilla. Beat with rotary beater or whisk until foamy. Serve topped with marshmallows or whipped cream, if desired. Five 8-oz. servings.
