Birthday Cake Alternative

I am always trying to do something different for Georgia's birthday cake because she has an egg allergy.  This year for her 9th birthday she wanted to have a little slumber party in the backyard in the tent.  It was a lot of fun and a really good idea because all the little girl noise that lasted til 1:00 am was outside which made it easier for my younger ones to sleep inside.

I was also battling an icky cold so my energy level was only half mast.  I did a taco bar for the girls and used my old catering boats for all the plates which made clean up so easy.  The girls loved the tacos esp. since they could do it themselves.

We opened presents inside the tent and then they were ready for the "birthday cake".  I did frozen chocolate bananas instead.  They were so easy & fun.

EB got to do her own sprinkles which made her very very happy!

Ahead of time, I skewered the bananas and put them on a tray in the freezer.  Then, I melted chocolate in a glass bowl in the microwave (4-5 minutes).  Then I used a spoon to help me dip the frozen bananas into the chocolate.  You have to go pretty fast here and hand off the banana that is dipped to a child so they can decorate it.  I had the boats filled with all types of sprinkles, chopped nuts and shredded coconut.  The chocolate freezes onto the banana pretty quickly.

This was a fun treat!  After the girls finished decorating their bananas we headed outside and sung Georgia happy birthday.  It was a little messy to eat but we all enjoyed it!

Happy Birthday Georgia!!
